Bournemouth Ink is not a typical tattoo convention. It incorporates many areas of music and performance festivals including a whole host of burlesque dancers through the weekend. See below for
last year's artists. We will be posting 2011's line up as soon as we can.
2010 Burlesque Performers
Polly Rae
Burlesque sensation Miss Polly Rae, is the founder and front woman of the leading, award-winning troupe, ‘Hurly Burly’ also known as ‘Miss Polly Rae and Her Hurly Burly Girlys’.
Miss Polly Rae blends seductive live vocal performance from songs by classic artists such as Peggy Lee, Shirley Bassey, Julie London and even modern artists such as Madonna and Michael Jackson with sensational traditional and neo-burlesque striptease, add on oodles of wit and charm and you have a truly unique spectacular show.
Miss Polly Rae takes creative inspiration from iconic 40s and 50s pin-up beauties such as Bettie Page, Tempest Storm and Marilyn Monroe as well as current commercial pop artists and shows. She was trained in burlesque by the legendary ‘Mama’ Jo King and The London Academy of Burlesque.
Celebrating four years in burlesque, Miss Polly Rae and her Hurly Burly Girlys kicked off their first show at the Soho Revue Bar (formerly the infamous Raymond Revue Bar) in Soho in April 2006. The show was a roaring success which led to a residency at the venue followed by a critically acclaimed move to the Leicester Square Theatre in London's West End. The Leicester Square Theatre was home to Miss Polly Rae: The All New Hurly Burly Show, her latest production in collaboration with William Baker as Creative Director and Steve Anderson as Musical Director in February 2010 which has received wide critical acclaim.
In 2007 Hurly Burly won Best Troupe at the Ministry Of Burlesque awards. They have appeared several times on the Alan Titchmarsh Show, opened the Prima Fashion Awards 2008, appeared at Thames Festival 2008/9 and Gay Pride 2009
Miss Polly Rae was recruited as part of a touring performance team for Agent Provocateur and has also appeared in music videos for The Holloways, Mickey Modelle ft. Jesse and in Kasabian's "Where Did All the Love Go?". In 2008 she became the face or Mr Brain’s Pork Faggots as a pin-up girl and of the No 1 Eidos computer game Battlestations Pacific as a wartime sweetheart. She also performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall alongside Bellowhead, sang Happy Birthday to Muhammad Al Fayed's son and most recently supported Darren Hayes at his exclusive New Years Eve show.
